Najaf - Four Hashemite orphans need urgent support to cope with their disabilities and illnesses.
14/11/2014     Help No: H053050135

As part of the regular inspection visits carried out by the staff of Najaf Centre to assess the wellbeing of orphans registered with the centre, the staff visited the family of the widow Ghufran Dakhil Adshan.

This widow lives with her four (Hashemite ) orphans in a rented house that costs 150,000 IQD (approx £79) per month,  in a rural district Al-Abbasia.  The house lacks basic necessities to meet decent living conditions.  The family has no beds and no furniture. They have no wardrobes, and the mother keeps her children’s clothes in paper bags. They have a fridge which is out of order.

All the children are at school and are in need of a sponsor to provide what is necessary to continue their education because of the financial hardship of the mother.

Unfortunately, the children have developed medical problems, and the mother is unable to finance the cost of treatment.  The 7 year old child has a metal pin in his leg following a fracture and always suffers pain in his leg during the winter months.  The mother is unable to provide thick protective clothing to keep him and his brothers warm.  To add to the winter miseries, the family does not have a heater in the house.

The 11 years old child has developed lumps under his skin covering his entire body.  He urgently needs to see a specialist for diagnosis and treatment.

This family appeals for help and is desperately need of the following:

A fridge which costs 300,000 – 500,000 IQD (approx £158 - £263)

A wardrobe which costs 150,000 – 300,000 IQD (approx £79 - £ 158)

Unknown cost of consultation and investigations to diagnose the child’s skin condition

Monthly sponsorship to enable the orphans  to continue their education and have a chance of a secure future are sought.

Any/all support will be greatly appreciated.
