As part of the regular inspection visits carried out by the staff of Najaf Centre to assess the wellbeing of orphans registered with the centre, the staff visited the family of the widow Layla Jaber Ayoob. The widow lives in Al-Askari district. She has three children one is diabetic, the second left school because of the difficult financial situation of the family and the third is still at school.

The house they are living in is in a very bad state with damp all over the walls. The roof is not secure, she needs to take her children out of the house when there is a storm incase the roof collapses on them. She urgently needs a fridge as the one she has is out of order and she uses it only as a store to keep food items. She also needs an oil heater as the house is cold and damp and a cooker as the one she has is second hand and in a bad shape.

Her requirements are:

1. A fridge which costs 300,000 Iraqi Dinars ( £ 176 )
2. Oil heater which costs 60,000 Iraqi Dinars ( £ 35 )
3. Cooker which costs 150,000 Iraqi Dinars ( £ 88 )
