As part of the regular inspection visits carried out by the staff of Najaf Centre to assess the wellbeing of special needs and disabled people registered with the centre, the staff visited the family of Baneen Kareem Shaheed .
This girl suffers paralysis of both lower limbs and dislocation of one shoulder, which happened during the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. In spite of her extreme disabilities she continued her studies in order to get an education.
Baneen lives with her father in one room in a school where he is employed as a security man. She is a very shy and sensitive girl. When asked about her needs she said her most important needs are coloring and painting equipments because she wants to be a famous painter.
