As part of the regular visits carried out by the staff of Najaf Centre to the families of orphans in need, visited the family of  Mrs S. Khashan Roudhan.

Mrs Roudhan has seven children.  Her eldest child, aged 21 has suffered from a blockage in the lacrimal canal of his eyes for the past two years.   It is a rare disease, and thanks to the support from good people an operation was undertaken in the Republic of Iran.

The doctor scheduled a review within two months of the operation.   But, due to the difficult financial situation of the family, the son has been unable to keep this appointment for the past four months as he cannot afford the cost of travel.  He has an added difficulty in that he cannot be exposed to sunlight, and hence he sleeps all day, and only wakes up at night.

When Mrs Roudhan was asked about her son’s most important needs, she answered: -

1. £450 (approx IQD 765,000) to cover a return airline fare to Iran (the son cannot travel overland.)
2.  The cost of the treatment of £30 (approx IQD 51,000) every 5 days.
