Bayaat Citizen Advice and Care centre staff recently visited the widow, Manal Kadhum Mohammed.  She is a mother of six orphans, the eldest of which is 15 years old.

This destitute family has lived in one room in the home of the widow’s parents in Abu Disheer in Baghdad since the husband died eight months ago, leaving the family without a provider.

When Manal was asked whether she had any skills or crafts, she replied that she was sewing to provide for her family and help her children through their studies.

In an endeavor to support her children and earn a living, this widow is seeking financial help to buy a sewing machine and help her start her own business.  The cost of the sewing machine is IQD200,000 (approx £120).
