The staff of Basra Citizen Advice and Care Centre visited the family of Mrs. Halima Muran Handhal who lives in Fao.

This widow supports 6 children ranging in age from 4-19 years old.  Her deceased husband suffered from a chronic illness that prevented him from working, which led to the increase in the family debts.

After his death, the widow sold the house to repay these debts and now lives in small room in her parents' house together with her children.

To add to her responsibilities, the eldest daughter divorced shortly after the father's death and returned to live again with the destitute family.

The family desperately needs donations to support, clothe and feed the orphans.

The eldest daughter is keen to start working as a dress-maker in order to help her mother finance their responsibilities.  To do so, she needs support to buy a sewing machine which costs IQD150000 (approx £90).

Halima also seeks a financial donation of IQD200000 (approx £120) to buy winter clothing and blankets for the children, especially now during the winter months.
