As part of the regular inspection visits to needy families registered at our centre, one of our staff members visited the family of the young girl, Benin Karim Shahid.

Benin suffers from a disability due to paralysis of the lower limbs as well as dislocation in her shoulder area. Despite all the health, physical and economic difficulties she is facing, she continuously challenges her poverty and disabilities in order to continue her scholastic studies.

Benin's father is employed as a guard for one of the schools in the province and as such,  the father and his family live in a single room.

Benin is characterized as a sensitive and a shy character.  She is an artist by nature and her hobby is drawing.

This innocent girl is in need of:

-          A wheelchair costing £72 (110,000 Iraqi dinars)*

-          A medical toilet seat specially adapted for her disability, costing £26 (40,000 Iraqi dinars)

-          Clothing costing £49 (75,000 Iraqi dinars)

*  Benin used to have a wheelchair but this was destroyed due to a fire in the house.

Our staff and Benin's family appeal to kind-hearted and benevolent people to support her and help her complete her studies.
