Farida Jawad Abood, a widow, was visited by our centre’s staff who were shocked to see the difficult living condition that Farida is experiencing.

Farida and her family live in a ramshackle home that lacks many basic commodities needed by the family in their daily life.

Farida has to look after her three orphans aged between 6 and 12 years as well as her niece who is disabled, and suffering from mental retardation.

Farida’s three children all go to school.  They do not have enough income to meet their school needs. The family does not have any means of income other than an benefit of £392 (600,000 Iraqi dinars) which they receive every three months from welfare, and this is not enough to secure the family needs.

Farida has shown that she can work as a seamstress, however she does not have money to buy a sewing machine.

Farida and her family are in need of:

-         Financial aid of £130 (200,000 Iraqi dinars) to purchase a sewing machine so that Farida can generate an income.

-         A monthly sponsorship of £16 (25,000 Iraqi dinars) for each one of her orphans.

-         Financial aid of £65 (100,000 Iraqi dinars) to provide some of the household supplies
