The Centre’s staff completed another inspection visit to Az Zubayr. Whilst there, they inspected the conditions of the family of Mrs Khaleda Kata who has adopted her granddaughter, Haidar Aziz.
The girl was born with Down Syndrome and suffers from a congenital birth defect that affects her hands and feet. Her hands cannot open and there are gaps in her back area which cause her pain are in need of a spinal support. However due to their poor financial situation, her grandparents have been unable to buy her the equipment needed.
The girl is in the care of her elderly grandparents because the mother left the girl to her father, and her grandmother took responsibility for the child. Due to her condition, the only food the girl can eat is medicinal milk. The cost of one pack is approx. £16 (25,000 IQD), which is extremely costly for the family.
The father of the child is in the National Forces and during his periods of leave he finds work as a labourer but it does not earn enough to pay the daily costs of the family.
This family is in need of:
Monthly medical sponsorship to the value of £32 (approx. 50,000 IQD) in order to buy medicine.
Financial assistance to the value of £125 (approx. 200,000 IQD) to pay for the child’s operation.
Regular monthly support to the value of £16 (approx.25,000 IQD) to buy the child’s milk.
The staff trust that kindhearted supporters of the charity will help this child in whichever they can
