Staff recently visited the family of the widow Najah Ahmed who has had to provide for her five children ranging between the ages of 11 and 15 since their father was killed in the war. The father’s death left them without a breadwinner, pension or source of income aside from social welfare, which totals approximately £140 (224,000 IQD). This amount is not enough to meet their most basic needs in terms of food, drink and medication.

The family live in an empty house, void of the most simple household items, with a roof made from  tin and wood. The roof does not protect against the winter cold or the summer heat. In addition, the children need school supplies.

The widow, and mother, responsible for this family is willing to work in any field in order to earn a stipend to allow her family to make ends meet.

This family need:

-  A monthly sponsorship of approximately £16 (25,000 IQD per child.
-  Financial help to the value of approximately £94 (150,000 IQD) to buy school supplies and other necessities for the five children.
-  Financial help to the value of approximately £125 (200,000 IQD) to work on, and improve the roof of the house.

Staff from the Centre urgently seeks help from the community to support this family to overcome their difficult circumstances.
