During regular inspection visits undertaken by the staff of Najaf Centre to evaluate the conditions of the families registered with the Centre, staff visited the family of the lady Kawakub Yasin Sulayman. She lives in the Holi area, where she raises her seven children. The children are between the ages of 3 and 13. 5 and are attending school. Tragically, her husband died of a heart attack and left her responsible for providing for their children.
They live in a house with a rental of 200,000 IQD (£125). The house comprises of a room and a few simple possessions that were paid for by a generous benefactor who became aware that they were living in poverty. Besides this, the house lacks the most basic household accessories and has very little basic furniture.
Kawakub does not receive social security, but she was working on earning an income in order to support herself and her children. However, after the family was evaluated, it transpired that she was unable to work and provide food for her children and that they were going to school without breakfast.
This family is in need of:
- Financial aid of approximately £125 (200,000 IQD) to buy basic school supplies) for the children
- Monthly financial aid of approximately £32 (50,000 IQD) to sponsor the orphans
- Financial assistance amounting to approximately £94 (150,000 IQD) to buy furnishings for the house
- The monthly financial help of approximately £32 (50,000 IQD) to buy food.
The Centre staff appeal to kindhearted members of the community to extend a helping hand to this family to help them improve their living conditions.
