During regular visits to needy families enrolled with Najaf Centre, staff checked the living conditions of the family of Mr. Jawad Kadhim Jaber, who worked as a bus driver.

Jawad supports a family of 5 children and his wife. One of his children is suffering from quadriplegia. They live in a house that they rent for 300,000 IQD (approx. £180) per month.   

Mr. Jawad suffered a stroke which led to weak movement on the righthand side of his body. He also suffers from chronic diabetes, which led to the amputation of part of his foot, which resulted in him being unable to work. However, after consulting a specialist doctor, he was given permission to drive buses once more, provided that he learnt to drive an automatic car.

Staff also met his wife who bears the burden of responsibility of supporting her disabled husband and five children, aged between 4 and 23 years.  A compassionate person gave her a sewing machine so that she could help to support her family through work.

The eldest son works for a daily wage of 10,000 IQD (approx.£7) to help support the family.

This willing family is in need of:

- An amount of £280 (approximately 450,000 IQD) to buy an automatic car.
- Financial support of £156 (approximately 250,000 IQD) to buy fabrics to continue sewing.
- Monthly medical sponsorship of £95 (approximately 150,000 IQD) for the purchase of medicines and treatments for Mr. Jawad.
- Monthly financial support of 32 (approximately 50,000 IQD) in order to buy diapers for the disabled child.
