The carer responsible for Fadhil Jawad sought help for this disabled man, who lives in a village in the Diyala province.
Once the call was received, staff from our Centre went out to visit Fadhil and discovered that he was indeed living under awful conditions and that he was in need of every humanitarian help available.
Fadhil was arrested under the previous regime and detained for a long time in prison on false political charges. He became blind and paralysis also set in.
Subsequent to his release, help from generous and sympathetic benefactors enabled him to obtain medical attention and continue with the medication and treatments. Through the grace of God he recovered his eyesight after some time, yet both his legs remained paralysed, and his medical report declared him totally incapacitated.
The compensation for political prisoners is yet to be finalized. He was recently given a date for six months’ time, but in the meantime, this poor man and his family are suffering and existing under pitiable living standards.
They are in need of:
- Monthly support for six months of £200 (approx. 300,000 IQD).
Our staff hopes that the community will reach out a helping hand to this suffering family.
