Elderly, poor widow needs a kind benefactor
Staff from Basra Branch visited an elderly woman, Shukriya TH. L. It was found that she lives alone in a simple house, on a small piece of land, donated by a generous benefactor. The house comprises of only one, small dilapidated room which does not shelter her from heat, cold, or even insects. When it rains, she goes to her neighbour’s home to flee from the water.
Shukriya lost her only son, in one of the wars. She did not claim any compensation for his death, as she had not received any news about him. This poor widow was then left alone to suffer a difficult life and a harsh life.
Shukriya receives a small social benefit allowance, insufficient to provide for her needs. She suffers from several diseases. Recently her gallbladder was removed and she needs continuous monthly treatment.
Shukriya approached Al Shakiry Charity, Basra Branch to seek assistance in building a small room so she may be able to shelter from inclement weather conditions. She has appealed to people of mercy to offer her their support.
