Baghdad - Citizens' Advice And Care Centre (Sadr City branch).Iraq

After the arrival of news about the existence of an area inhabited mostly by widows, orphans, abandoned women and impoverished families, the Citizens' Advice And Care Centre (Sadr City branch) made a reconnaissance visit to familiarise themselves with the conditions of these families and view from close at hand their problems, needs and suffering. It was found that many of the orphans who had lost parents due to the father's death or the mother's remarriage were being raised by an aunt or a grandmother.

Therefore, they expressed their great joy at seeing the Centre's staff visiting them,  enquiring about their conditions and listening to their grievances, especially as nobody had previously performed such a reconnaissance tour.

As a result of that visit, the Centre's staff registered nine families suffering from very difficult living conditions and in urgent need of help. For example, there is a woman there who cannot even afford the price of milk and nappies for her only daughter after her husband left her to marry someone else, never even enquiring about her since. There are also widows with orphans all of whom are at school and needing many school prerequisites, as well as household necessities too numerous to detail here.

You will find below a list with the names of orphans and needy families:
