Injured youngster cannot afford medical fees or the requisite milk – hopes to return to work to provide for his family

Mr Abu Alhassan Alsaraf (director of the centre) together with Mrs Um Alhassan paid a visit to Ms. Um Sataar’s home with regard to her eldest son Sattar’s injury.

Sattar Jabar is 21 years of age and is the sole provider for his family which consists of his parents and five siblings. He was involved in a car accident which left him with multiple fractures. He has been house-bound for six months now and his situation has not improved despite having undergone several operations.

This is all due to the fact that Sattar’s family do not have the funds to keep up with his medical bills and the travel expenses involved. The treatments cost 20,000 Iraqi Dinars a week and travel costs add up to 50,000 a month – sums that Sattar simply cannot afford. The family is now mired in debt because of the need to borrow money for his initial treatments.
And so, Sattar appeals to all good-hearted people to help cover the costs of his treatment in the hope that a speedy recovery will allow him to repay his family’s loans and to provide for them once again. He also requests help with the purchase of crutches to aid with manoeuvrability around the house (25,000 Iraqi Dinars) and a chair for use in the bathroom (15,000 Iraqi Dinars).

Sattar mentioned that in the first month of injury he consumed natural milk called ‘dawab’ milk and this lead to a significant improvement in his health. However, he can no longer afford to purchase it as the cost is prohibitive. One bottle costs 5,000 Iraqi Dinars and he needs 20 bottles a month.
