The impoverished Mrs A has had to endure the general hardships of living as well as a poor financial state since her husband fell ill and is unable to work.
He suffers from multiple health problems and disabilities which have developed since he had an operation on his spleen that involved the insertion of plastic tubes. This has resulted in many physical as well as psychological difficulties that have caused Mr A to be so pessimistic and apathetic about his check ups and treatments that he no longer wishes to see any doctor and can no longer function efficiently at work.
And so, Mrs A seeks to earn a living to support her family. She approached the Baghdad Citizens Care and Advice Centre to ask for a loan of 400,000 Iraqi Dinars (equivalent to about $350) for the purpose of buying and selling women’s clothes.
