Shakiry Charity for Social Solidarity - London

Before the start of Ramadan this year (2013) the Shakiry Charity, along with its series of affiliated 'Citizens' Care and Advice Centres', launched a campaign aimed at providing food baskets for the needy entitled:

'I will provide a needy family with a food basket...will you?'

And so the philanthropists responded...according to the web page devoted to this campaign, by the 30th of July 2013, there were a total of 177 food baskets donated from outside Iraq; each basket costing £30 with an overall donation value of £5,310.

167 food baskets were distributed before July the 30th 2013.

There will be a third distribution process whereby the remaining baskets will be handed out God willing.

As for the food baskets donated within Iraq, we are now very pleased to announce details of the great outcome:

Citizens’ Care and Advice Centre (Najaf branch)

A total of 80 food baskets were collected and three batches have already been distributed. The fourth batch will be sent out soon God willing.

Citizens' Care and Advice Centre (Bayya' branch)

Donations reached 3,690,000 Iraqi Dinars with which 126 food baskets were purchased and distributed.

Citizens' Care and Advice Centre (Sadr city branch)

One individual donated 2,000,000 Iraqi Dinars for the purchase of 100 food baskets for families of orphans and widows, costing 20 Dinars each. The donor wishes to remain anonymous.

Citizens' Care and Advice Centre (Kreyaat branch)

More than 140 food baskets were purchased thanks to donations by three individuals.

And so, the Shakiry Charity for Social Solidarity in London, along with its affiliate Care Centres across Iraq, has purchased a total of 623 food baskets for the needy as of 31/07/2013. This is of course not a final figure as the holy month of Ramadan is still not over.
