After several years of working on Noor Ghalib's case, the Citizens' Advice and Care Centre (Najaf branch) was finally able to observe the fruits of their labours after Noor underwent two difficult surgical procedures. Below is the heartfelt story in more details.

The orphan Noor Ghalib (aged 8) suffered from a medical condition which had affected her tonsils since birth. Thankfully, in response to campaigns calling for help, several individuals came forward and made kind-hearted donations amounting to 2,500,000 Iraqi Dinars. This figure constituted half that was required for the surgical operations and the remainder was generously provided by Doctor Sultan Mihsin Alsaady (who also performed the operation which took place on 15/08/2013).

The Citizens' Care and Advice Centre (Najaf branch) has been working on Noor's case for more than three years and helped her with many of the medical check-ups and tests made by specialist doctors. Following many of these tests, as well as psychologically preparing Noor for the operations to come, the Care Centre transferred Noor's case to Doctor Alsaady; a specialist in children's surgical procedures. (Doctor Alsaady is a professor at the University of Shiraz in Iran and visits Iraq every three months). All the necessary pre-op tests were taken four months prior to the operation which took place on the Doctors' next visit to Iraq.

Noor's operation lasted over four and a half hours and involved two procedures which took place one after the other; one which tackled the hole in her tonsils and the other was cosmetic. This reduced the expenses for Noor's family as they did not have to pay the costs associated with the second operation.
