Baghdad – Citizens Advice and Care Centre (Madinat al-Sadr branch)
Following the deterioration of safety and security, families have been forced to vacate their homes after terrorist activities reached civilians’ residential areas.
21 families from Dayala, 1 family from Rutba and 6 families from Abu-Ghoraib district (family members ranging from 3 – 13 in size), were forced to leave behind all their possessions and belongings, abandon their homes and flee the areas in search of safety. In most cases, the father, or both parents had been murdered before the family had a chance to escape.
Some families are currently residing in the All-Tayaran camp in Baghdad under extremely difficult conditions. The camp lacks very basic necessities such as water and electricity, and as a result, the children are suffering from poor health. Orphaned children are being looked after by relatives.
Staff from the Citizens’ Advice and Care Centre undertook an inspection of the facilities and was made aware of the harsh conditions under which these displaced families’ are living. There is an extreme urgent need for contributions towards food baskets and general financial support and help.
We ask you to consider the plight of these families, who have lost their lifetime possessions, and the innocent children who have lost their parents. Your generous donation to support these families and orphans is desperately sought.
