Citizen Advice and Care Centre, Najaf  Branch

As part of the regular family visits made by the staff of Najaf centre, who carry out inspection visits to check on orphans, disabled and widows;

The centre’s staff visited the family of the widow Sahira Jabar Thajeel, to check on her wellbeing and her families living conditions.

The widow and her five orphans, who still attend school, live in a rented house costing her IQD 200,000/month.

Sahira lives in a very destitute financial condition which renders her unable to provide for her children, due to the high cost of housing and the cost of providing education for all her orphaned children.

Sahira applied for the social security benefit in another province, but since she could not afford the cost of transport, she has not been able to review her application status.

After talking to Sahira son Ali, the Najaf centre manager found that, Ali excels in his studies, but unfortunately he fears that he would be unable to continue his education due to his mother’s financial struggles and thus he is considering leaving his school to help his widowed mothers deteriorating situation.

Therefore Ali calls upon his dear brothers and sisters to help him and his family to enable him to carry on with his study.
