FOOD AID TO DISPLACED PEOPLE OF MOSUL AND TAL AFAR

The Citizens Advice and Care Centre in Najaf have launched an urgent campaign to provide support and food aid to displaced families fleeing the fighting in Mosul and Tal Afar.

Staff at the Centre and a team of volunteers have been distributing food vouchers to displaced families. The vouchers (a subsidy card system developed by Shakiry Charity for Social Solidarity) allows for beneficiary families to buy food supplies, according to their needs, from accredited shops within areas of the center of Najaf.

Mr AS Shakiry launched the program with a personal donation of 5 million Iraqi Dinars.  Further donations have been received, and so far 50 such families have each received 10 vouchers totaling 50,000 IQD. (approx £30). 

The influx of destitute and homeless people fleeing Mosul and Tal Afar continues to grow daily.  They have suffered and are hungry and desperate for food and shelter.  They have nobody to turn to.
