Citizen Advice and Care Centre. Najaf Branch.
Staff from Najaf Centre recently visited the family of widow, Jinan Hussein Abdullah, as part of their regular inspection visits to check on their well being and living conditions.
Jinan, whose husband was killed by the US forces, was forced to leave her home in Al-Anbar province, and is now living with her family in an inhabitable house which costs her IQD100,000/month (£55).
Due to the situation in Al-Anbar, Jinan has been unable to move her social benefit entitlement to Najaf, and this has caused her to lose out on the public services provided by the government, such as food aid, and schooling for her orphans. Her inability to complete her paperwork has further impacted on her poor living conditions as seen clearly in the attached video.
Jinan’s family is in urgent need of support. They need a new refrigerator to replace the current unit which is out of order, particularly now during the hot summer season in Iraq, when food needs to be refrigerated and cool water is desperately sought
Furthermore, the family is in need of other basic items such as a gas cooker, simple mattresses and other financial support that would help them afford the costs of rent, food and schooling for the children.
