Josie Grove Appeal 04 Feb 2007
Josie Grove, 16 year-old talented artist and swimmer, who lived in Northumberland, and was in the media spotlight in December 2006 after deciding to forego further treatment for her terminal leukaemia condition, and enjoy the rest of her life, died peacefully at home on Monday 27 February 2007 with her family.
Her courage was recognised by the Brave Hearts charity when she collected an award, along with 11 other children, at a ceremony at Newcastle United's St James Park in December.
Josie praised the bravery of other sick children and pledged to help do whatever she can to improve their lives, after being told that her own condition was terminal.
Josie designed a special piece of jewellery, Josie's dragonfly, which you can buy at www.joisiesdragonfly.org .
Josie's wish is that all donations to Josie's Appeal will be spent to improve the quality of life of children suffering from cancer and leukaemia, and for research. The fund will be administered by Josie and her parents, Cliff and Jacqui Grove.
