Father's day funding for The Prostate Cancer Charity
25/07/2007

12 June 2007

The Prostate Cancer Charity will be celebrating an extra special Father's Day this year, thanks to the help and support of three new corporate partners.

In honour of Father's Day, Alfred Dunhill, Tesco and figleaves.com are all donating a share of the retail price from specially selected items to raise awareness of prostate cancer - a disease which kills one man every hour in the UK.

Denise Bailey, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Prostate Cancer Charity, says: "It is wonderful to be working with our new corporate partners at a time when men are at the centre of many people's thoughts. Prostate cancer isn't as well supported as other cancers - possibly because it's considered to only affect elderly men, but everyone should be aware of the disease and the
impact a diagnosis can have upon the whole family.

"The funds raised from our partnerships will help the Charity continue to help improve the lives of the 32,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK every year through our research, information and support services."

Newly appointed Ambassador for The Prostate Cancer Charity, Neil ‘Doctor' Fox, has lent his support to the Charity's Father's Day partnerships.

Neil says: "My father died of prostate cancer when he was 76, but if he had known more about the disease, he might be alive today. So, I know from personal experience the devastating effect that prostate cancer can have on the lives of men and their families.
"I miss him terribly and would love nothing more this Father's Day to give him a hug and let him play with his grandchildren. But I can't. So, please don't find yourself in a similar situation. It's devastating.
"I can assure you every penny makes a difference and helps The Prostate Charity's support and information services and funds vital research projects. This is why I support The Prostate Cancer Charity's Father's Day campaign," he added.
