Subsequent to an earlier visit to families registered in the Qurna district, a follow up visit was made to monitor the progress of the family of Mr. Khalaf Wani.

Mr Wani supports his extended family including his mother and his brother Sabah Nee, who suffers from a physical disability and mental retardation.  He also supports his sisters, his wife and their five children aged between 3 and 14.  Some of the children attend school, but as a result of Mr Wani’s poor financial situation, he is unable to provide for their school needs.  The children’s uncle will now take care of them so that they may continue their studies in the Zubayr district.

This family lives in a mud house with a roof constructed from reeds and mud, which is in ruins.

This poor man is unable to work hard due to his poor health.  He suffers from a hole in the heart, which leads to difficulty in breathing and movement.  His mother works as a vegetable vendor to supplement their daily income.  Every day they travel to purchase their produce, which only yields a small return insufficient to meet their needs.

This family needs: -

- A monthly sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £35)to cover their medical costs

- Financial assistance of 100,000 IQD (approx. £65) to purchase basic household necessities

 Please help relieve the suffering of this needy disadvantaged family living in extreme poverty.
