Staff from Basra Citizens Care and Advice Centre recently paid a follow up visit to the family of Mr Sami Saddam in the district of Medina.
Sami Saddam used to work as a photographer earning a daily wage until he became a quadriplegic which put him out of work.
This situation left his wife, Sobeih Hani, responsible for supporting her handicapped husband and six school-going children aged between 11-17 years. The family lives in one room in a house that they share with three other families.
Sobeih Hani earns a living by making brooms. She sells her brooms for a small amount of money. Besides this the family receive a fixed social income of 150,000 IQD (approx. £100) every three months. This money is insufficient to meet the day to day needs of the family.
This family needs: -
- A monthly medical sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £35) to pay the costs of the disabled father’s medical needs.
- A donation of 150,000 IQD (approx. £100) to cover the costs of basic supplies for children.
Please help this family overcome some of the difficulties in life that they are facing, and ease the burden of responsibility placed on the mother struggling to provide for her family.
