On a field visit to the Faw District, staff from Basra Citizens Care and Advice Centre visited the widow Furat and her family of three children aged between 11 and 13.
This family lives in one room in a ruined school building. The roof is dilapidated and their living conditions lack basic every day necessities.
Both Furat and her daughter have Psoriasis (a long-lasting autoimmune disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin)
The only income this family receives is a social welfare payment of 346,000 IQD (approx £230) every two months which is inadequate to meet their needs.
This family needs: -
- Monthly sponsorship of 25,000 IQD (approx. £16) for each orphan.
- A once-off donation of 150,000 IQD to purchase basic domestic requirements.
- A donation of 350,000 IQD to refurbish their home and make it habitable.
Basra Centre staff urgently seek benevolent citizens to support this family and their needs.
