During a recent field visit to Abi Sakhir in the province of Basra, staff from Basra Citizens Care and Advice Centre visited the family of Ahmed Faleh.
Ahmed is blind having lost his eyes and sight in past wars. He is supported by his elderly mother and his family of three children aged between 3-12 years. This elderly woman suffers mental phobia having lost her son and her husband in the war. She is dependent on medication to cope with daily life.
The entire family lives in a dilapidated two-roomed house that has a leaking roof. The house lacks the most basic necessities such as a cooker and mattresses. They receive a social welfare allowance of 340,000 IQD (approx. £225) every two months which, unfortunately, does not cover their basic living expenses.
This family is in urgent need of-
- Monthly Medical Sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £35) each for both the blind father and his mother.
- A donation of 200,000 IQD (approx. £135) to buy a cooker.
- A donation of 150,000 IQD (approx. £100) to buy an air cooler.
- A donation of 500,000 IQD (approx. £335) to repair the roof.
Staff from Basra Citizens Care and Advice Centre seek generous well-meaning members of society to extend a helping hand to this family struggling against harsh living conditions.
