Staff from Bayaa Citizen Care and Advice Centre recently visited the family of Mr. Attiya Mesir Khuwaiter.  They found Attiya and the family living in extremely poor conditions in a simple house built from clay blocks and iron sheets.

This elderly gentleman, despite his own chronic illness, is struggling to supports a widow and her three orphans ranging in age from 10-15 years.   After losing her husband, and father of the children, the mother had no source of income apart from a pension of 600,000 IQD (approx. £400) a month, which is insufficient to meet the requirements of her children and their living needs.

Attiya, who suffers from chronic diabetes urgently needs: -

- Financial assistance worth 250,000 IQD (approx. £165) to buy gas cooker for the household

- Ongoing monthly support of 25,000 IQD (approx. £15) per child per month
