Staff from Najaf Citizen Care and Advice Centre visited families in the Bubiyat district of Karbala governorate.  They have been monitoring Mrs. Zahra Mohammed Muftan and her family who were abandoned by her husband, and are suffering greatly.

Zahra has three children aged 5-10 years.  She is solely responsible for their welfare and upbringing. Zahra and her family share a room.  Their retired grandfather provides some of their essential needs, to the best of his capability.

The eldest son suffers from atrophy in the brain cells.  This requires a monthly consultation with doctors.  Each treatment costs 200,000 IQD (approx. £135).

Ms. Zahra is willing to start work as soon as possible to earn an income to support her family as she is unable to receive support from social welfare as she cannot produce her divorce papers.

Zahra urgently seeks financial support to purchase a sewing machine in order that she can put her skills to use to earn an income.
