Staff from the Citizen Care and Advice Centre recently paid a visit to the family of the widow, Khulh Salman Khudair. They found that her living conditions were very difficult.
Her husband tragically died in a motor car accident as he was traveling to work, leaving her to provide for four orphaned children aged between 6-11 years old. All the children are of school-going age, and urgently need clothes, books and other school supplies to attend school.
The widow and her orphans live in a single room in a house which they share with three other families. The house is in a bad state of repairs – the roof made from gingko sheets is broken, and then she has no cooker or refrigerator. She would like to provide a television for her late husband's parents.
The family receives no support from the Department of Social Welfare except for her husband’s pension of 700,000 IQD (approx. £435) which is paid to her every second month, and which she generously shares with the other families in the house. This is inadequate to meet their simple matters.
This family desperately needs: -
- Monthly sponsorship for each of the four Orphans - 25,000 IQD (approx. £15) each
- A donation of 200.000 IQD (approx. £125) to cover the cost of repairs and basic equipment such as a cooker and refrigerator.
Please help support this kind, brave widow, and her children.
