BACK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN

Staff and Volunteers at Shakiry Charity Office in London are jumping up and down with joy at the overwhelming support that we have received from generous Donors here in the UK as well as our International Supporters!

When we started out on our Back to School campaign in June of this year, we intrepidly set a fundraising target of £10,000 – hoping to support 500 disadvantaged children with the means to attend school and gain an education. 

We were concerned that we might have been over-optimistic and debated whether we should halve the target.  But having already posted the Appeal on our website, and Facebook and has sent out letters of request for support to local schools and Donors, we felt we were committed to doing our best to reach the target as near as possible.

We are very happy and delighted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has supported this Programme.  Through our London office, an amazing amount of £5000 has been received!!  This has been through extremely generous Donor response to our Back to School website Appeal, Donation Boxes, and two fundraising events.

At this stage, we can proudly confirm that 300 happy, smiling children have been given the gift of attending school this year!!

We are anxiously awaiting confirmation from the Citizen Advice and Care Centres in Iraq as to how much has been raised locally towards the Back to School campaign, and have no doubt that local contributions will greatly increase this number.
