Visit My Mosque Open Day
26/02/2018

Shakiry Charity was honoured to have the opportunity to showcase the Charity’s activities during the recent Visit My Mosque Open Day held at Dar al Islam in Cricklewood on 18th February.

VisitMyMosque is a national initiative whereby mosques across Britain organise an open day inviting in their neighbours for tea and an insight into the day to day goings on of a busy Muslim centre of worship.  Visit My Mosque aims to help the British public get to know their Muslim neighbours and their places of worship.

The first guests to visit our stand were a group of visitors from the nearby St Gabriel’s Church. They were intrigued to learn more about Shakiry Charity, our fundraising programs and the support provided to the disadvantaged Orphans, Widows, and Families in Iraq through our associated Citizen Care and Advice Centres.

Visitors, in general, were enthusiastic to learn about our Charity Bank Fund;   how it provides an opportunity for poor citizens in Iraq to earn an income and provide for their families through facilitating the start-up of small home industries and promoting their products.

In between the guided Mosque tours, several interesting guests visited our table.  Amongst these, we were honoured to meet Ms. Dawn Butler (MP for Brent Central), Councillor Muhammed Butt (Leader of Brent Council) and Councillor Parvez Ahmed (Deputy Mayor Brent).

Thank you to all who visited our table, and to our hosts Dar al Islam who made this event possible.
