Our Ramadan Iftar Dinner recently took place on Saturday 26/5/2018 at Dar Al Islam Hall.

The evening’s programme opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by the honourable Sheikh Hassan Al-Turaiki.

This was followed by a presentation by Mr Abdul-Sahib Shakiry, founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shakiry Charity for Social Solidarity. 

Mr. Shakiry provided a brief account on the importance of recognizing and understanding the objectives required to support poor families.  He outlined the concept of establishing Shakiry Charity shops in the region, and the important role they provide in meeting the needs of the families of beneficiaries registered with the branches of Al-Shakiry Charity in Iraq.

He thanked the Sponsors of the event, and Donors for their generous support, and also praised the London office staff and volunteers for their hard work and efforts culminating in the success of the evening event. 

Mr. Samir Al Rikabi, Director of Basra Branch and member of Al-Shakiry Charity Board of Directors in Iraq, spoke about the importance of supporting the charitable fund as well as the mechanism and value of working with food and clothing vouchers through Shakiry Charity shops.

A presentation of documentary videos highlighted the needs in Iraq, and work undertaken by Shakiry Charity, and there was a traditional activity for the children.

All in all, it was a happy, memorable and well attended Ramadan celebration.  Shakiry Charity was able to achieve the goal of bringing together members of the Iraqi community and strengthening the bonds of social relations between members of society at home and abroad.
