Our staff paid a field visit to the home of the family of Shaimaa (S, KH), which is a two-room apartment that she lives with her elderly mother and her sick brother (psychosis) and is not married.
 
The roof is made of rusty tinplate and filled with holes needing restoration and their kitchen contains a small cooker that does not function,  forcing them to cook food at their neighbours'houses.
Their house needs some basic necessities such as a cooker and a washing machine. They cannot afford to buy them because they only receive social welfare assistance amounting to 200 IQD every two months, not enough to cover their simplest expenses to buy in food, clothing and medicine.
 
 She is trying to take care of her family despite the difficult situation and hopes to find a job so that she does not depend on help form others and is ready to work as a sewing profession in order to be able to care for her family so that they all live in dignity.
This needy family needs: -
 
- A monthly allowance of 50 thousand IQD.
 
- Cash assistance worth (160) thousand IQD to buy a washing machine.
 
- Cash assistance (150) thousand IQD to buy a cooker.
 
- Financial assistance worth (300) thousand IQD to restore the roof.
