Staff from Sadr City Branch visited the house of a widow (Ahlam), whose husband died several years ago leaving her responsible to support and provide for her four children.

Her eldest son, who is now married, still lives with her together with his children.

Ahlam suffers with many illnesses.  She has Osteoarthritis and sliding vertebrae, chronic gland issues, uterine hyperplasia (enlarged uterus) and hyper tension.  Further, one of her other sons suffers from blood fracture disease and increased blood fat (triglyceride).

This family lives well below the poverty line.  They receive no income or support except for a monthly benefit of 290,000 IQD (approx. £194)

The family (including the married son and children) now live in one room of an old house which is unfit for living purposes.   They lost their own house as a result of last winter’s strong rains. Their new home has no electrical appliances, particularly needed during the current hot weather

This family are in urgent need of: -

- Financial donation of 225,000 IQD (approx. £150) to buy a refrigerator.

- Financial donation of 200,000 IQD (approx. £135) to buy a cooker.

- Financial donation of 150,000 IQD (approx. £100) to buy a washing machine.

- Financial donation 500,000 IQD (approx. £335) for the restoration of their house (before winter).
