Staff from Sadr City Branch recently visited the home of Mrs. Janan Kadhum Saadoun and her five children.

Her eldest son died whilst defending his county. Upon his death, the father received a government compensation, whereupon he deserted his home and family leaving them without any support or guarantee of an income or decent living.

Janan’s husband has now divorced her and she has been left to take full responsibility for the children without any money.  Janan and her 5 children are living under extremely miserable conditions.

Two of her sons are ill. Ali suffers from Thalassemia and needs regular treatment costing 150,000 IQD (approx £100) per month.  And Mustafa (who is 16 years old), has severe head and hand burns which require him to undergo surgery every six months – each operation costs 500.000 IQD (approx. £335).
