Young children forced to leave school to help their sick father earn an income
Staff of Basra branch visited the poor family of Mr. Jabar. H. A who is unable to work due to an accident he incurred whereby he fractured his leg. This has hindered his ability to work.
Jabar and his impoverished family live in a simple dwelling. The roof of the house is dilapidated and lacks many basic necessities such as a refrigerator and cooker. This poverty-stricken father was supporting his wife and five children, two of whom were still getting an education, but had to leave school because of the family's poor living conditions. They now help support their father by roaming the markets selling plastic bags.
Jabar and his family receive a small income every two months from the Social Security Department worth 346.000 IQD (approx. £230). This is hardly enough to cover their needs in terms of food, clothing and medicine.
This family are in urgent need of: -
- A donation of 100.000 IQD (approx. £65) to purchase school supplies for the children so that the children can attend school.
- A donation of 300.000 IQD (approx. £200) to buy a refrigerator.
- A donation of 175.000 IQD (approx. £115) to buy a cooker.
The branch staff appeals to kind people to support this poor family overcome the hardships of life that they are facing.
