Among the field visits undertaken by the staff of Najaf Branch, they paid a visit to the family of Mrs Fawzah who lives on the extreme poverty line.

This widow has been supporting her children through her work in collecting metal cans and selling them to secure the daily food for her and her children. She lives with her three orphans, her disabled mother-in-law and her sick father. Two of her children are still in school and in need for the necessary supplies to attend school.

The widow lives in a house that has leaks and lacks many of the basic household necessities such as a refrigerator, a cooker , a washing machine and a television. They only assistance she receives is from the Social Welfare Department which amounts to 340,000 IQD (approx. £225) every two months. They do not have enough money to meet their basic needs.

This poor widow built a room in the house from bricks she personally collected from demolished houses.

This family desperately needs :

- Monthly sponsorship of 25.000 IQD (approx. £15) for each orphan.

 - A donation of 150.000 IQD (approx.  £10)to buy a cooker.

 - A donation of 260.000 IQD (approx. £170) to buy a refrigerator.

- A donation of 170.000 IQD (approx. £115) to buy a washing machine.

- A donation of 160.000 IQD (approx. £105) for the purchase of a television.

- A donation of 700. 000 IQD (approx.  £470) to build an additional room.

The branch staff appeals to the good people to help this widow overcome some of the hardships of life.
