Buddies to have a ball for charity
22/08/2007

AN ORGANISATION which raises much-needed funds for children's charities has announced details of its forthcoming events.

Burton Buddies, set up by a group of friends in February this year, is holding a charity ball at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium on September 14, in aid of the Starlight Children's Foundation - a cause which grants wishes for terminally ill children.

The event requires formal attire and will feature a pianist and dance band, as well as a three-course meal.

Tickets are £41.95 per person, or tables of 10 can be reserved with a £100 deposit by telephoning 01283 713927 or 07933 802247 by tomorrow.

The group is also organizing a battle of the bands competition, which takes place at The Appleby, in Green Street, on September 2, with all musical styles welcome.

Further information is available by telephoning Burton Buddies chairman Paul Goss on 07968 795196 or visiting www.myspace.com/starlight-2008. Bands must contact the charity by tomorrow to take part.

The winner of the competition will go on to play live at Starlight 2008, at the Pirelli Stadium on May 25, next year, which will include a charity football match between ex-professional Arsenal players and celebrity team and Burton Buddies' own side.
