Basra Branch

Following an appeal by Basra Branch in December 2018, staff carried out a follow-up visit to the family of the destitute widow Naimah M. M.  They found that this family continues to endure cruel living circumstances.

Naimah lives with her three orphans in a simple dwelling owned by a benefactor.  She has no financial source apart from a social security benefit which she receives every two months, and which is insufficient to cover the family’s living expenses.  Their dwelling lacks basic necessities such as a washing machine, freezer, heater and oven.

Naimah works hard as a baker to earn a living to provide for her orphans.  She struggles to make and sell sufficient loaves of bread in order to earn enough money for her family’s needs.

They need:

- Monthly sponsorship of 25,000 IQD (approx. £ 15) for each orphan (3)

- A donation of 175,000 IQD (approx. £115) to buy a washing machine

- A donation of 100,000 IQD (approx. £ 65) to buy a water heater

- A donation of 120,000 IQD (approx. £ 80) to buy a bread oven to continue with her work

- A donation of 400,000 IQD (approx. £265) to buy an air conditioner

Branch staff call upon the generosity of good people to extend a helping hand to this widow to help her take care of her orphans.
