On a recent inspection visit carried out by staff from Najaf Branch to the family of the widow Ahlam Faiq Hussein, it became clear that this lady’s husband had died leaving, her to provide for her 10 orphans, all continuing their education.  Two of the girls are studying medicine, and the other eight are doing well in school.

The widow and her 10 children live in a rented house costing 200.000 IQD (approx. £140) per month.  Her only source of income is a social welfare benefit of 440,000 IQD (approx. £305) which she receives every two months.  This is not enough to meet their basic needs.

Ahlam is unable to afford the cost of the transportation to school for her ten children and also the school costs.  

One of the daughters suffers from diabetes and needs insulin injections.

This large family needs your help to provide:

- Ongoing monthly orphan sponsorship of 25,000 IQD (approx. £18) per orphan (x10) per month.

 - Medical sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx, £35) to pay for treatment and medical check - ups.

- A Donation of 250.000 IQD (approx. £175) to buy a refrigerator.

Branch staff appeal to people of compassion to extend a helping hand to this widow so that she may support her children and provide them with a decent life.
