Grayaat Branch

Staff from Grayaat Branch visited the home of the Basil JA to assess the reality of his financial and living conditions.

It was found that he lives in a house which he rents for 400,000 IQD (approx. £275) per month.  He lives here with his wife and four daughters, and also with his grandchildren, whose mother died after being run over in an accident. Their father is unable to look after them, and asked the grandfather to take care of them. 

One of the orphans suffers from a pathological condition in her scalp (alopecia areata disease) and another daughter suffers restricted mobility as a result of being involved in the same accident. She has had several operations and needs additional operations to be able to walk again.

This family is suffering unbelievably from want and poverty.  They are dependent on help from benefactors of their relatives.

This family needs: -

• Donations towards the wellbeing and needs of the grandchildren, and to help them continue with their medical treatment
• A monthly sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £35) for a sick daughter, who needs to follow up on her health.
• General donations to purchase some furniture, bedspreads and household appliances.
