Sadr City Branch:

As part of the work of the branch, staff paid a visit to Mr Hassan M.A, who is 60 years old, and his family.  They live in rented accommodation that is inhabitable.

Hassan has two daughters, both suffering from thalassemia.  One of the daughters has also developed hepatitis C as a result of constant blood transfusions.

The father is an employee. His salary is insufficient though to cover the rent of the house, the cost of his daughters’ treatment, and in addition any other family expenses. The treatment for the girls in most months’ amounts to 250.000 IQD (approx. £175) Because of its unavailability in hospitals, Hassan has to buy it from pharmacies at his own expense

This family suffers from extremely poor living conditions and desperately needs:

- Ongoing monthly sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £35) per girl (x2)

- An urgent donation of 150,000 IQD (approx. £105) to buy treatment for the girls.

- A donation of 200.000 IQD (approx. £140) to buy a washing machine.

-  A donation of 125,000 IQD (approx. £85) to buy a TV.

The branch staff and the father appeal to people of charity for help.
