A second visit was made to assess the living conditions of the poor family of Hamid SH. DH.  Branch staff found that they continue to exist under extremely harsh conditions.

The family lives in a dilapidated house which was built without permission.  The house lacks the most basic necessary amenities.

Hamid supports his family consisting of his wife and four children, as well as his disabled brother who is deaf, dumb and blind.

He is a fisherman, who earns a living from selling his catch.  Depending on the season, his income remains insufficient to meet the necessary requirements of his large family in terms of food and clothing. The family does not receive any social security assistance.

This family needs:

- A donation of 165.000 IQD (approx. £115) to buy a cooker.

- A donation of 150,000 IQD (approx. £105) to buy mattresses.

- A donation of 265.000 IQD (approx. £180) to buy a refrigerator.

Staff from Basra Branch appeal to people of compassion not to hesitate in helping this poor family out of its misery.
