Desperate mother and her four orphans face enormous difficulties.

Staff visited the family of the widow Najla A.S, whose husband died four years ago.  A tour of the house revealed the extent of damage to the ceilings, the walls, and the kitchen.  The house lacks the simplest necessities in life.

Najla and her five orphans live under very harsh living conditions in a slum area.  They share a two-roomed house.  The roof is made from  dilapidated ceiling panels that do not provide protection either from the heat of summer or the cold of winter. There is no breadwinner in this family and they rely solely on the help of charitable, kind people and a minimal Social Services Allowance, which does not meet their needs. Despite their poverty, the orphans continue with their studies.

To help this family, they need:

• Ongoing orphan sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £30) per month for each orphan. (x5)
• A donation of 300,000 IQD (approx. £170) to buy a refrigerator.
• A donation of 200,000 IQD (approx. £115) to buy a cooker.
• A donation of 50,000 IQD (approx. £30) to buy a heater.

The widow's family appeals to benevolent people to help her provide for some of her needs.
