Desperate mother seeks help to provide for her two orphans

Our staff visited the family of the widow Sahar J. S who lives under harsh conditions with her two orphans.  They live in a slum area.  Their home is a small dilapidated house that does not protect them either from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.  The extent of damage to the ceilings and walls of the house, as well as the kitchen, was evident.  The house lacks the basic necessities for a normal life.

Since Sahar’s husband passed away there has been no breadwinner in this family.  They rely entirely on the generosity of charitable people and a small welfare payment, which does not meet their needs.   Despite  their desperate situation, the orphans are continuing their studies.

This family are in need of:

• Ongoing orphan sponsorship of 50,000 IQD (approx. £30) per month for each orphan. (x2)
• A donation of 300,000 IQD (approx. £175) to buy a refrigerator.
• A donation of 200,000 IQD (approx. £115) to buy a cooker.
• A donation of 50,000 IQD (approx. £30) to buy a heater.

The widow and her family appeal to benevolent people to help provide for some of her needs.
