ENTERPRISING WIDOW APPEALS TO BENEFACTORS
Staff from Basra Branch visited the widow Fatima L. M. and her family. This widow and her orphans live in a rented house costing 350,000 IQD (approx. £112) per month.
Following the death of her husband, the mother became sole custodian and provider for her two orphans. Both of the children attend school.
This poor widow and her children are burdened by a harsh life filled with difficulties and suffering. The only financial support they receive is a small social welfare allowance which is insufficient to cover the cost of the monthly house rent and to provide for their living needs. To supplement this minimal income, Fatima runs her own small market stand from her home. She sells basic everyday commodities to the public in order to earn some income to provide for her family. She is in urgent need of financial support to purchase her stock upfront in order to develop and maintain her project.
