Sadr City Branch:

Two young girls badly burt in a traffic accident

A widow appealed to the staff of Sadr City Branch for help with finance to pay for the treatment her two young daughters require following a traffic accident.

The two orphans “Shahad” and “Zainab”, who are 10 and 12 years old respectively, are students in the elementary and middle schools. They were subjected to a tragic traffic accident that led to the car in which they were travelling with their grandfather, to catch alight.  The grandfather died immediately at the scene, and the two girls suffered burns to their face and limbs.

As a result of the accident, the two girls have suffered limb disfigurement and fibroses of their facial skin. They are currently undergoing physiotherapy and treatment for loss of limbs as their hands were burnt.

The family does not have any financial income except for a small social welfare allowance they receive, which does not cover all the medical costs, transportation fees, and provide for their regular needs.

This family needs:

  • Ongoing medical sponsorship of 25,000 IQD (approx. £15) per month for each orphan (x2).
  • A donation of 900,000 IQD (approx. £560) to pay for the medical assessments and treatment.

Staff from Sadr City Branch hope that a kind benefactor will take mercy on the plight of this poor mother and her two orphans, who sustained such terrible burns to their little bodies, and as fate decreed lost their father and grandfather.
